There are a lot of ways to pack your carry-on bag, but sometimes the “what” is more important than the “how.” To be blunt, traveling on an aeroplane can be both gross and boring. When I’m flying the friendly skies, I have a personal checklist of items that are “must-haves” for my carry-on bag, in my attempt to feel a little fresher and be a little more entertained. Many of these small items deserve a permanent spot in your carry-on bag, too.
A clean T-shirt.
I used to never bring a fresh T-shirt in my carry-on bag—that is, until the flight, I spilt an entire can of Ginger Ale on myself, and sat in a damp, sticky shirt all the way to sunny Orlando. Now I always pack extra.
. If you’re like me, you can spend a lot of time concentrating on the device before your eyes light up. The pen is useful if you want to solve crossword puzzles in current magazines, write your own shapes or just want to scribble.
A pack of chewing gum
. According to Hearing Healthy, chewing gum or (sucking hard candy) can often stimulate swallowing, which helps to balance air pressure.
Portable phone charger
. It’s a humiliating moment when you have a flat battery in your phone and you know you can’t do anything about it. Don’t get caught unprepared; Invest in a portable charger and give yourself a chance to avoid boredom when you fly.
The jury does not yet know who has the right to damage the window during the flight, but you can make it a matter of course. Wearing a mask is easier than discussing a stranger’s behaviour.
When travelling from the outside through the airport and by plane, you will experience different temperatures. Due to the cramped rooms you go to, it can’t hurt if you can use it again if necessary (in the bathroom, of course). Tissues. Napkins are one of the things you want to use before you need them.
. With planes still finding areas to cut to maintain their overhead, you can no longer trust them to provide you with enough refreshments throughout your flight. Just be sure to buy Trader Joe’s instead of Hudson News. In a magazine. The reason I chose the magazine is that I can put it in my bag without having to worry about keeping it as good as a book. Plus, a nice excuse to apologize for reading some junk.
